The Vision
The Church at the Brook
is a Church of God congregation
that purposes to be a revival, renewal community of believers in Jesus Christ who gather to worship God and
serve the metropolitan area through ministries that are guided by the
following principles:
- Doctrinal integrity with cultural relevance
- The best traditions of our Pentecostal heritage
- Empowering people for ministry
- Caring for and refreshing one another, the community, and the
world
Who We Are:
Revival, renewal, refreshing community of believers
in Jesus Christ.
- We are a fellowship of men and women who have accepted the
message of the Gospel, follow Christ as our Savior and Lord, and who
seek to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
- We are citizens of God's Kingdom who enjoy the company of
fellow believers in worship, prayer, fellowship, and service.
What We Do:
Gather to worship and care for our metropolitan
area.
- We understand that we are here first to worship and glorify
God. Worship brings us into God's presence and becomes the fountainhead
of our life and ministry.
- We further understand that we are here to bless and care for
our community by being instruments of God's love and mercy flowing out
to those seeking and hurting.
How We Do It:
Through ministries that are culturally relevant
with doctrinal integrity, committed to our Pentecostal heritage, that
empowers people for ministry and are sensitive to Christ's voice in the
church, by establishing ministries that flow out to the community and
the world.
- We are not a church that is bound strictly by tradition.
Instead we are contemporary in nature and innovative in our methods. In
other words, we are a church that is willing to change. Yet, while
culture changes, God's Word does not. We can and will change our methods
when necessary, but the message is still the same.
- We appreciate our heritage that is a part of the Pentecostal
movement. Our worship and our service is marked by this heritage. We are
without apology, a Spirit filled church.
- We believe that all Christians are called, that all Christians
are called to be saints, and that all Christians are ministers.
Therefore, our goal as a church is to empower people to do the work of
God. Our ministry seeks to be lay lead, rather than staff driven.
Finally, we believe God's agenda for the world includes revival and
refreshing. He is now working His plan in the world! We believe Christ
is the head of the church and that through the Holy Ghost, He is
communicating with His people. Therefore, we will listen attentively so
that we can be part of what God is doing and can speak what He is
speaking. We are compelled to be diligent and
work with haste for we do believe that Christ's return is near.
